Few JW leader have children

it’s been discussed before that few jw leaders, past and present, have had children.

this is in contrast with other groups, such as the mormons, whose leaders have had a lot of children.

i wonder if this has impacted jw growth.

Morris has 2 children - https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/w20150515/remembering-first-love-for-jehovah/ - but they were not disfellowshipped as ChatGPT claims. At the time of Morris' removal, they both had high ranking 'jobs' (one was the US branch overseer or something like that) at WTBTS, so there was some speculation back then, right now both of them seem to still officially live at a WTBTS address.

Not sure what happened to them since, I would assume the WTBTS doesn't want to 'shake' that tree too much.

David H. Splane doesn't have any kids. It's pretty easy to find out - Born in 1944, started pioneering in September 1963 (20yo). A graduate of the 42nd class of Gilead (1966, 22yo), he served as a missionary in Senegal, Africa (1966-?), then for 19 years in the circuit work in Canada (?-1990). Then he has been at Bethel. So none of those positions would've allowed for 'children'.

The rest you can find similar reference, they self-publicize enough self-aggrandizing life stories. Even the lesser known ones, eg Jacob Rumph, The 132nd class of Gilead means 2012 he was between 21-40 years old, at least 2 years married, and had no children at that point, by 2023 he was a GB member, that's only 10 years, so he can't have raised children even if he 'dropped out' after graduating at that point.

Now, whether some of them have some 'illegitimate' children could be an issue of contention, but I'm fairly sure they 'screen' for some of those 'undesired' attributes.

I don't care if I have a 'specific' holiday, I would much rather move those 14 days to 'some other time'. Let the companies compete for my employment on the basis of total vacation time rather than mandating a schedule where both sides are forced. It would spread out holiday travel a lot better too, leading to all sorts of market optimizations and cost reductions.

Crude oil futures are going up, but prices for products are still dropping. What is happening is that some investors are pumping up crude in the anticipation that other oil nations will get hit or join the war. Some are still expecting Trump to sit this one out, which he clarified this afternoon, the US will provide the necessary support to ending the theocratic rule if they don’t come to the table.

Some people believe Muslims in Saudi Arabia will somehow join against Israel, in reality they are quietly cheering the Israelis on. Nobody wants Iran to win this, not the Chinese, not the Russians, not the Saudis, not the Jordanians, not the Syrians, not even the Iranian people. Trump has already destroyed the ‘pain points’ in the area (the Houthis), a third world ragged group of pirates that were allowed by the previous administration to have an effect on long term strategic shipping lanes. The biggest loser here, besides the Iranian dictatorship, will be China, they are getting a ton of oil from Iran, they are one of the sole buyers, so they get to dictate bargain prices right now, however, if they end up nuking something (if they had the capacity) that would be the end of Iranian oil for the next few decades, if they lose the war, their oil will become a lot more expensive.

Right now, there is a high chance this is a protracted 2-3 week ‘war’ that will end in the overthrowing of Khomeini. However for that, Iranians have to rise up against their regime. There will be a civil war of some sort, but nobody is going to send a nuke to Israel, nobody is going to gang up against Israel, you read too much into the Bible if you think that it has anything to do with this, or the previous protracted skirmishes that Israel has had with Iran since its inception.

Juneteenth being celebrated by JWs

so today i saw a group of jws i know, we were sitting down to eat at a public place and i guess they (mom and daughter) were performing at an event with their sports team… for juneteenth.. they (the entire team) happened to sit next to us for some fast food and i recognized them and said hi, hoping to make them uncomfortable.

they actually said hi and introduced themselves to my family, i’ve seen them before (they go to the same school as one of my kids) and they usually ignore me.

i know for a fact they and their family still goes, the family patriarch is an elder etc.

@BluesBrother: that was back in the day. Obama broke a lot of JW, as he was hyped up to be the savior of the black community.

I remember there being talks with not so subtle hints about not putting your trust in men or participating in elections regardless of how historic they may be at the conventions and meetings before the election.

But they let it slide, because drawing attention to disfellowshipping an Obama voter would be media suicide. And that just opened the floodgates, it gave permission for a whole host of political activity and obviously has permeated throughout the leadership, 12 years later they were actively promoting the COVID shot and whereas during various global issues (protests, wars) they usually came out with some article it very obviously references, they haven’t done that recently.

on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.

in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

@george: the point I was trying to make is that according to public and other commercial records (you know credit companies and banks have an interest in those things), he lives in NC while she lives in MA. That may be a ruse by the WTBTS, but it only creates more questions. According to the records, she has a post box but does not share the address with Anthony in NC, whereas they did before in previous addresses.

Too far away from me to care. But I know for a fact there must be some whispers going around in the congregation and I’m sure the entire congregation is under direct scrutiny by ‘leadership’ up and down the ladder.

Someone should see if his sons are still in JW leadership or if they quietly stepped down.

It seems at least from public records his wife is living elsewhere, the tax documents don’t show his wife’s name either (typically married couples purchase property with both names). His wife is currently listed living at 511 Northampton St, Holyoke, MA (which is the Kingdom Hall) but has a PO Box in Lumberton. Their son Stephen is still is listed at Patterson.

Maybe that’s who the second house is for?

they actually said hi and introduced themselves to my family, i’ve seen them before (they go to the same school as one of my kids) and they usually ignore me.

i know for a fact they and their family still goes, the family patriarch is an elder etc.

@southcentral: it’s a fabricated “religion” that pretends not to be a religion, much like JW, it didn’t naturally evolve, but was created and structured with a specific political goal sometime in the past few decades. I don’t have a problem with people celebrating special events, if they’re grounded in at least some base truth and not structured to allow a supremacy of one group and deny the accomplishments of others.

@listener: these are not the kind of people that are ‘leaving’ the WTBTS, but it just goes to show the ‘rot’. I would be mortified back in the day if someone ‘caught’ me with a St Patrick’s day slogan t-shirt.

Did Anyone Have Fun With Their Field Service Reports?

now that there is new light on reporting hours in field service, it's raised a few questions for me, who was never in the jws.

did any of you ever have fun with the field service report slips, by finding creative ways of reporting time without raising suspicions in those who oversaw the collection of those slips?.

also, can anyone upload an image of what the slips looked like, or point me to a post that gives uploaded examples of the sort of paperwork that was familiar to jws in good standing?.

Nobody ever asked me questions about it, so yes, at some points, I just said whatever they wanted me to write. I felt bad towards the end of my pioneering, so at some points, service was just sitting by myself in a parking lot staring wondering why I was doing this, it was okay when you had a good group with a pretty girl in the morning, or the old guy that paid for a 1h sit-down breakfast and put down a tract for the server to count it as service, but nobody wanted more than 2 hours in the weekend or less than that during the week, when you have to weave in 40-50 hours and a full time job and ‘actually go’ by yourself because nobody ‘wants’ to do 6-8 hours on Saturday and then Sunday you have the meeting ‘interrupting’. That’s when I realized, nobody cares, so I just reported whatever, tracked the last few months and varied the averages and adjusted up and down by a few, took out magazines just to dump them in the garbage.

Eventually, after I left, I found a different use for my briefcase, it was a nice leather hardcase attaché that cost me a bit over $100 back then. It is still great for fitting and discreetly transporting certain toys, and the first aid kit…

So today I saw a group of JWs I know, we were sitting down to eat at a public place and I guess they (mom and daughter) were performing at an event with their sports team… for Juneteenth.

They (the entire team) happened to sit next to us for some fast food and I recognized them and said hi, hoping to make them uncomfortable. They actually said hi and introduced themselves to my family, I’ve seen them before (they go to the same school as one of my kids) and they usually ignore me. I know for a fact they and their family still goes, the family patriarch is an elder etc. They were on their way to doing a demo at the city’s Juneteenth event.

I was completely flabbergasted, these elders and their families, actually celebrating an invented religious holiday, openly, in public. At the same time there is a convention going on less than 5 miles away from them (not their circuit, but still).
